The Use and Features and Changes in Tipper Trucks Over Years

Tipper trucks are considered as vehicles to carry bulk cargo, and they are generally used to shift heavy materials from one place to another. They are extensively used in the mining, construction and infrastructure industry for smooth movements of the loads. With the growth of technology and much research on the features, the trucks are no more than vulnerable while on work keeping the drivers, users and the people in general to breathe a sigh of relief.

Tipper Trucks With the New Features:

Worth mentioning that to their size and load, these types of trucks were more accident prone to the existing features they had. But with technological advancement safety measure are added to these trucks in order to prevent any severe circumstances. Hence the new tipper trucks come with other safety features. The newly added safety measure to tipper truck as listed below:

  1. Speed governors to reduce speed– These days the tipper trucks have speed governors fitted in them. With the speed governors controlling the pace, reckless driving or over-speeding is not possible. The speed limits are set as per need, and usually, the speeds are reduced for a safe drive. This is enhancing the safety aspects.

  2. All side reflectors to avoid collision and tailgate protection – As the trucks are fitted with all side reflectors, it is possible for other vehicles to see them and avoid collision keeping a safe distance. This feature is quite useful at nights when the visibility is poor. In addition, the tailgate protection fitted the modern tipper trucks protects the drivers and reduces the damage of the driving cabin in case of head-on or tail and head collision with another truck. The drivers can drive vehicles with more confidence while carrying the load.

  3. Compulsory reminder for seat belts and blind spot mirrors – As soon as the driver starts the engine, an alarm begins to buzz on when the driver is not wearing the seat belt. It keeps the driver reminding to fasten the seat belts while driving to have some protection in case of any unforeseen incidents. With the blind spot mirrors, the drivers have an idea where they are heading to and are careful while driving in front or move the vehicle some distance backward.

  4. Advanced two brake system – The brakes of the tipper trucks have been improved considerably, and even the most advanced tipper trucks have two brake systems, where the additional brake functions as the fail-safe device when the regular brakes fail to control the vehicle.

Guidelines for Safe Use of the Trucks:

  1. Since these trucks are generally used in mining and construction industries, the area where the tipper trucks are working is preferred to be cordoned off.

  2. If that is not possible the area should be scouted using the colored cones preferably orange or green to alert the passers-by of the activity that is going on in the area and stay away from that area.

  3. The site for dumping and movement of the truck should be firm so that the ground do not cave-in while these trucks are moving with heavy loads.

The tipper trucks used today are next-generation trucks fitted with GPS so that the drivers can follow the road ahead and get information about the road conditions ahead and their position can be tracked by the agencies that are deploying the trucks for shifting of the bulk loads. With the additional safety features fitted on the tipper trucks and maintaining the guidelines while using them, these trucks are functioning effectively and doing some best works without any danger. They are next generation trucks and are the in thing to drive and stay safe.
