5 Precautions You Should Take While Installing Ducted Air Conditioning

Ducted air conditioning denotes a process of air conditioning that works through ducts. From the internal fan coil unit, a series a ducts run into as many rooms as the owners want. These ducts allow the room to be cooled or heated individually. It is the best and effective option to cool or heat your house. If you need to condition only one particular room, ducted air conditioning will not be a rational decision. These ducts allow the room to be cooled or heated individually. Some precaution that should be taken are listed below:

  1. Indoor and outdoor Unit Installation - Install the indoor unit of your ducted air conditioning in such a location where there is enough space for proper installation and maintenance, where pipes and drain pipes can be connected, the ceiling is horizontal and can withstand the weight of the indoor unit, the inflow, and outflow of air is not obstructed and where there is no undeviating radiation from heaters. Do not forget to sheathe the insulation foam from outside the duct to avoid condensation. The indoor unit should be firmly fixed on a structure that can withstand its heaviness. If the structure is weak, the machine can fall causing damage to anyone. It should not be installed in places like a bathroom or laundry since high moisture content can short the unit and lead to wiring corrosion.  The outdoor unit of your ducted air conditioning should not be installed close to the indoor unit. Make sure that the outdoor unit is not exposed to snowdrifts, direct sunlight, or other pollutants. Provide an awning if possible and make sure that the airflow is not obstructed by the awning. Install it is a spacious and well-ventilated area. Before the fixation of the outdoor unit, a joint drain must be made at the base of the machine.

  2. Draining pipes- When using a lengthened drain pipe strengthen the indoor connection with an extra safety tube to check it from falling loose. The drain pipes should be inclined downward at a gradient to prevent water from flowing back into the ducted air conditioning. To prevent the pipe from subsiding space the hanging wires. Improper installation of the drain pipe can lead to water flowing back into the unit. Sheath the drainpipe with heat-insulating material to prevent condensation and leakage. The drainpipe outlet should be at least 5 centimeters above the ground. If it touches the ground it might get blocked.

  3. Refrigerant piping connection- All field piping must be done by a skilled technician. Refrigerant leakage during installation leads to refrigerant concentration, resulting in a lack of oxygen. So safety measures must be taken if the ducted air conditioning is being fixed in a small room. Make sure pollutants do not enter the refrigerant circuit. If the refrigerant system gets adulterated, it is working magnitude will decrease. During installation, if any leakage occurs ventilate the area immediately.

  4. Wiring- When working on the unit disconnect all power supply. It should be done by qualified technicians only. Improper wiring leads to overheating fire and electric shock. Ground the unit. Connect the power source only after all wiring and piping are complete.

  5. Air evacuation- Use of a vacuum pump for this purpose. The outdoor unit does not need to vacuum. https://youtu.be/8Cs1KcTc9Gc

Clean your filters every six months to ensure the proper functioning of your ducted air conditioning. Preferably you should clean them at the beginning of summer and before winters. Wash the filters with warm soapy water. After continuous usage, the airflow becomes restricted due to the accumulation of debris and dust. Regular filter cleaning hence is necessary to enable your ducted air conditioning to run properly.
